I am about 3 months old pointer puppy and was about to end it all in the next couple of days. I had just about had enough of what life had dealt me, my back leg so painful I just couldn´t use it, which meant finding my evening meal was all but impossible. Then just as I was getting ready to give it all up a small group of ladies who were taking a break at the seaside caught a glimpse of me, hunted my breakfast, gave me a wash and a little cuddle and renewed my faith in the kindness of humans. They even cut short their break to take me to see the doctor and then we all travelled back to Girne. So again I feel like I have become that happy little puppy dog I started out to be just 3 months ago. OK so I am a little skinny now and still have a bit of a limp but you just watch me grow into a loveable faithfull companion.

My only problem with life now is that unfortuantely for me the ladies that showed me so much love have already homed other adorable dogs like me and are not in a position to keep me very long. I dont want to go back to the streets, I want a friend who I can call my best friend and who I can keep and love for life.
I know there has to be someone who needs me out there, please help me find them.

Important News for all Property Buyers and Sellers in North Cyprus

If you follow blogs and forums for North Cyprus on a regular basis you will probably have seen posts about the changes to the TRNC Property Laws that were expected to happen at some stage. Well the latest North Cyprus News is that the law has been passed.

I have just read an article on the New Donaghy and Beyler blog which says that the New Law was passed on the 2nd of January.

There blog explains that this New Law effects all North Cyprus Estate Agents and that Donaghy and Beyler were the 1st non Turkish Cypriot Estate Agents to be licensed. If you want to read the full article yourself you can find it here http://donaghyandbeyler.bravejournal.com/entry/22313

It seems that this new Law has been passed by the TRNC Government in order to safeguard the property buyer in Northern Cyprus. From now on it appears that is illegal for anyone to buy or even sell a property in North Cyprus without an Estate Agent who now must be registered with the TRNC Government. It also seems that all Licensed Estate Agents can be held accountable for the information they give their clients and furthermore they must ensure all information given is correct.

Well done to the TRNC Government.

Relocating to North Cyprus this Year?

First of all, a very Happy New Year to all who read this blog.

Once again, this year will see many people about to or considering relocating abroad just as I did when I moved to North Cyprus.

I made my move over 6 years ago but can still remember the feelings I had to go through.The apprehension excitement and the sadness at leaving family behind, not to mention the tears as I went through departure at the airport.

Then the endless list of things that needed doing, the dreadful job of packing, getting rid of things I couldn't take with me, the task of getting my pets ready to send out, the constant visits to vets and the telephone calls to immigration making sure our dogs were ok to enter the country once they departed the plane.

Well all that’s well and truly behind me now and I can honestly say it was the best move I ever made.

No Regrets, so why am I going on about this now, so many years later.

Well today I read a blog on Donaghy and Beylers new blog site that took me back to those days. It’s a story of a guy who on a whim packed up and left everyone and everything behind, probably expecting to go back to the UK within weeks. It didn’t happen in fact he made a wonderful life for himself, met a girl who he fell in love with and who later he married.

A real story of success, a story that hits at your emotions. The Northern Cyprus Website has now created an A-Z titled IN NORTH CYPRUS plus an index to information for Northern Cyprus.

This I would expect will be a good help to anyone who would quickly like to find information on different topics relating to living in, holidaying in or even moving to Northern Cyprus.

This Guide has great maps and images.

The maps allow you to zoom in and out or pan north, east, south or west and look around surrounding areas, the images on the maps are great.

North Cyprus Important News for Visitors

News is being to filter through that Visitors to the TRNC are only being issued 30 day visas. Previously visas were issued for a 90 day period.

If you are intending to stay longer than 30 days the advice being given is to produce your flight ticket and request your visa is made out for the necessary period (of course not longer than 90 days). If you intend to stay longer than 90 days then the best advice would be to start applying for temporary residency.

It is said that the Police at Ercan do have the authority to make extensions and so if you wish to stay longer it is best to explain your situation to them and request that they issue an appropriate visa.

We will of course keep these pages updated as and when we hear of anything changing.

A Birds Eye view from Google Earth of the plot of Pre 74 Turkish Title land that I am offering for Sale.

Location: Karsiyaka, North Cyprus

What you are looking at is an area of land sandwiched between the villa on the left and the large villa sat back from the road on the right.

This area of land has been legally divided into 4 seperate plots.

The left hand side is one plot.

On the right hand side 3 plots the 1st starts at the road and finishes in front of the hedge.

My plot is the largest of the 3 and starts at the road with a strip of land that is its Private Drive/Road, the main area of land starts just in front of the 1st hedge and ends just in front of the second hedge. You can also identify this plot as it is the one that has the trees on it.

The last plot starts where mine finishes and finishes at the 3rd hedge.

As another marker the Land colours vary which makes it easier to see how the land has been divided.

North Cyprus - Cyprus Turkish Airlines are said to be starting scheduled flights to Germany

I have just read news that Cyprus Turkish Airlines have announced that they are to launch scheduled flights to Germany sometime in June which will continue upto November. There should be two destinations Frankfurt and Munich.

Cyprus, Nicosia Wall (Green Line) is being dismantled

Last night saw the start of the historic dismantling of the barrier (Green Line). A wall in Nicosia which has divided Greek and Turkish populations for more than 40 years. Months before, Turkish Cypriots dismantled the footbridge on the other side of the wall. We can only wait and see if people will be able to cross freely from either side.

Just over a week ago I blogged on how it seemed that YTL was getting stronger than the pound. Just checked out the exchange rate, and as it was promising all last week, its now back to 2.6 level, OK at the higher level but still back in there and promising to go lower yet. Will see what happens tomorrow.

The title said spring is in the air in Cyprus and it certainly does feel like that, todays lunchtime temperatures reached 18C 64F at Ercan, if any flights were comming in today from the UK I bet it lifted the hearts of the travellers when they left the plane for the tarmac and felt the sun and warmth that we are now enjoying. Fingers crossed a couple more degrees and it will be time to get those shorts out of hibernation, can't wait.

Turkish Lira vs Sterling

The New Turkish Lira seems like it may be gaining strength against Sterling. Last week it reached 2.8YTL but has been falling steadily throughout the week and is now around 2.73 to the £. I wonder what it will do this week and whether it will ever get back to the rate of 2.35 to the £.

and weather in New York -7 it makes me shiver to think about it

Reads like a football match doesn't it!

I had an email yesterday from my niece in the UK telling me she couldn't go to school because of the snow. Her words "thats the only thing good about cold weather" lol.

It did make me laugh, she always does.

After living in Cyprus for some years, when the temp goes below 16C I start moaning it's getting cold! If it got to 1C I would probably have to hibernate (truthfully)!

Really must have acclimatized to weather in the med and guess I have nothing to moan about. Whilst the snow was falling in the UK, yesterday was a warmish day here in Cyprus 14C by lunch time.

This morning whilst sitting having a cuppa I thought I'd check the temps of places in the UK and also few other countries.

I did this quite easily by going to www.uk-cyprus.com
because each page in the site has live weather forcasts for different countries and cities.

As you can see from the title, we are lucky to be here aren't we?

In saying that we do get snow in Cyprus, but only for a day or so and really only on the mountains. Not a lot just enough for people to collect and make minature snowmen on the bonnets of their cars.

Whats it like in the UK, is it still snowing? Just thought I'd mention uk-cyprus has news on the airports and roads too may be worth checking out before you travel.

How many expats live in North Cyprus

I have just been reading the results from the census that was carried out here in the TRNC last year.

Knowing the vast amount of British moving out or buying properties here in North Cyprus the number of 8000 being permanent residents came as quite a surprise, I would have thought the number be much higher than that.

I can only guess that the title permanent residents means just what it says, and doesn’t take into account people who hold temporary residence permits.

To become a permanent resident you need to have been a temporary resident for 5 years, so if this is the case I suspect the number will change dramatically over the next few years, as expats hit that magical number 5 and are eligible to become a permanent resident of the TRNC

What is the point of spam and what are the benefits to those who send it. I am receiving so much spam at the moment, I guess just like the rest of you. It makes me wonder what the benefit of sending it out is.

The latest one Not Viagra Not stocks and share or even handbags and watches No nothing that trivial, can you guess, then congratulate me because I’m a lucky winner of the UK National Lottery that I never even entered.

Is it spam or is it a scam.

Whatever it is I guess my bank account will still have the same balance this time next week as I have no intention of sending back the validation form required to stake my claim.

Almond Blossom and living in the Rain Forest

OK so we now have our winter, and for anyone who is experiencing life in North Cyprus the last few days and the rainful may have come as quite a bit of a shock. But lets face it we needed some rain and it has been short comming this year. I was begining to think I would have to start watering the garden months early and being lazy was pleased for the torrential rain we have just had. Lets hope that as it should, (February being one of the wet months)it continues to rain though I dont mind if we dont get the normal hail stones. Yep for anyone doing their 1st year they could be excused for thinking they had moved to the rain forest. But Feb is a short month so spring is on its way I promise and today I saw the 1st almond blossom opening on the trees. Such a pretty site when all the trees are in full blossom.

For anyone who is moaning about the rain, dont worry it wont be too long before you can moan about the heat. We all do during July and August and sometimes even earlier than that.

Not very long ago I was starting to feel that winter was on its way, but just this past week I'm left again wondering when it will really arrive. Almost at the end of January with temps getting up to 63F and ok we have had some rain but really only a little not nearly enough to help out the farmers or to fill the resevoirs. I'm sure winter will come at some stage, but the longer it is delayed the shorter it will be. Maybe it will hit us in February. February as far as I am concerned being the worst month for rain and cold days, but then thats only 28 days, I feel so lucky living here.
